Solitaire collection - Classic is not a single card game but a bundle of patience-style games packed into one Android app. It covers Klondike, Spider, and Freecell, then expands with dozens of variations. What makes it useful is a combination of simple tap controls, detailed statistics, and a battery-friendly layout.
A wider set of games than the name suggests
The first few times I opened Solitaire collection - Classic, I expected the standard Klondike table and nothing else. The menu changed that. Over 140 solitaire variants sit under familiar names, and updates add three or four more each time. Rule descriptions are short, and many include a video tutorial; I needed one for Scorpion once, and it saved me from leaving the app. Search by name matters once the list grows beyond one screen.
Orientation and handedness options look like minor extras, but they change daily use. Left-handed mode moves the top buttons to the left side. In portrait, some games fit better in one hand; in landscape, the same layout opens up more space. Card deck and background choices are buried in the menu too, but not every variation works well in both rotations, so you still need to test.
Controls that respect how people actually play
Clicking cards instead of dragging them is the reason I stuck with this app. You tap a card, then tap the destination. That cuts accidental drops, which happen often when dragging with your thumb on a moving bus. Swipe left for a hint, swipe right to undo, and swipe down to reveal the top bar. Everything takes a few minutes to learn, and after that the controls feel predictable.
The statistics screen appears after each finished game: win rate, moves, hints, time, and a general rating. Old records stay visible, so you can try to beat a previous run with the same variant. Unlimited undo and auto-complete are there too, but the latter can spoil the last few placements when it takes over. The app also saves the current table when a call or notification interrupts.
Where Solitaire collection - Classic falls short
The huge collection has no difficulty labels, so a beginner who just learned Klondike has to guess which variant fits next. You can see old records and percentages for each variation, but I miss a single summary screen that shows how I do across every game. Minimal animation is intentional for battery life, but it also makes winning feel quiet rather than momentous.
None of that makes the app unusable. It simply means Solitaire collection - Classic is for people who want variety and quiet routines, not flashy rewards. If you prefer fast visual feedback or a ranked progress system, pick something else.
